Patent Fashions – Met-A-Lace

IMGP8930IMGP8927Met-A-Lace was a Canadian patent shoelace replacement consisting of metal bars that anchored through the holes on one side of the opening of a pair of laced shoes or boots, hooking into the opposite side. The display box carried a variety of sizes, all with the promise “MET-A-Lace – Quick as a Flash! No more broken laces – All Colours”, although black and brown are the only options in this display box. The Canadian patent #185825 was granted on Sept. 30,1918.
