My blog may disappear….

I am having problems with my host (Hostpapa) right now who say I have all sorts of things I need to fix but I am not a techy person. Their request (see below) might as well be written in Chinese because I don’t understand what they are saying… I tried doing some of the things they recommended but nothing worked as the instructions said, and in the process I eliminated about 300 of my subscribers because I thought they were spambots…

I started this blog 12 years ago, and it was simple, and easy… and its not anymore, and its also expensive. This blog costs me $400 per year and every three months there is some issue I have to attend to that isn’t my fault, but it always seems to cost me more money and time to try to fix. Hostpapa has already shut this blog down last week because I didn’t respond to them within 48 hours (BECAUSE I HAVE A REAL LIFE WITH REAL DEADLINES…) So, if this blog disappears, you will know why….

Here is what they said I need to do — if anyone can explain what they are asking me to do in English, let me know.:

  1. What an ordeal! I have my blogs on blogger, and a couple of years ago I decided to quit paying for domain names, and switched them all to Google blogger freebies, it messed up links, but at least should live on in perpetuity for free. Not a wordpress expert but I’m pretty sure you can downgrade yours to a free blog, without losing your content. Good luck!

  2. Oh I wish I could help but my eyes glaze over at that type of bloggie techie talk too.
My host is Bluehost and the people there (whenever I needed to access their help) were most helpful and ready to speak in real English to help me through any issues. And when they couldn’t translate tech speak to real English patiently guided me through screen by screen to get the desired result. Maybe talk to someone at Bluehost about your problems and use them as webhost instead?
I’ve also had good success with the Happiness Engineers at WordPress. My blog is kinda expensive to run too and I feel you should get good support for those bucks!

  3. This is ridiculous and ridiculously expensive. Time to switch hosts. WordPress has recommendations although they themselves offer professional hosting-I won’t link it here as too many urls might get the comment flagged as spam. My husband and I both use ventraIP here in Australia and they are amazing, affordable and have great support. Best of luck!
