  1. That is so very interesting that you should post an old photo of the Hudson Bay Store. My friend who is from England and I am, but live in the States, were both recently visiting the Netherlands and Norway, where we saw Hudson Bay Stores, in both countries; which is such a Canadian/British store one would think, but we have never seen a Hudson Bay Store in the UK. Interesting that they were or are in Canada, which of course makes sense.

    • I didn’t know there were Hudson Bay Stores in Norway and the Netherlands! The store was created in Canada – actually, they were originally created as trading posts for Native fur trappers, but by the 1890s a few stores had opened in cities in Western Canada where you had to buy with money, rather than trade with furs.
