Vintage Sartorialist – February 10, 1913

A hundred years ago today, women in Washington DC demonstrated for the vote on February 10. 1913. It must have been a cold day as the drawstring hoods and the cleverly arranged scarf suggest.

    What an interesting photo! I love the fur collars. And what about that ruched hat on the left. Is there a name for that style?

      I believe that is a hood on a cape that has a drawstring to pull tight around the face to retain heat. There are others in the back wearing a similar style of gathered hood.
